The Intertwined Histories of our Faith and our State

History Gallery of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kuching

KUCHING — From the earliest European Missions to the modern Archdiocese; from Brooke-era missionaries to present-day shepherds, come learn about the legacy of the Sarawakian Catholic Church.

Since the first Catholic Missionaries arrived in Sarawak, the histories of Church and State have been undeniably interconnected through schools, communities, and leaders.

Established in 2016, the History Gallery exhibits tell the stories of this relationship and of the foundations of the Archdiocese. Sections include Early History, Religious Orders in Sarawak, The Church and Education, and The Sacraments. In addition, periodical exhibits such as the one for the Month of Rosary this year, are on display.

All are invited to visit the History Gallery which is located on the First Floor of the Archdiocesan Curia & Cathedral Pastoral Centre (ACCPC) via the Library. Do support and share the efforts which have made this history—our history—available to the faithful.

Contact number 082-242634 to book for guided visits.
