PAKAN, Sarikei — Just a week after the Jogathon at Chapel of St Francis of Assisi, the energy continued with SUKER (Sukan Gereja) 2024, organised by the Sarikei Youth Ministry (SYM) from St Anthony’s Church, Sarikei. Held on 31 August 2024, this vibrant event brought together 100 participants and 20 committee members for a day filled with games, fellowship and leadership development.

The event was a true celebration of youth initiative, with participants aged 7 to 28 engaging in various sports and activities. Under the watchful eye of the parish’s youth advisor, Sis Dianna Claster, the youths not only participated but took on key roles in organising the event’s logistics which included cooking and game management. Their involvement provided invaluable experience in leadership and teamwork, preparing them for future responsibilities within the ministry.

The atmosphere was electric, with cheers and laughter echoing throughout the day. The parish rector and vice rector were on hand to offer their support, further encouraging the young leaders. The event culminated in a sense of accomplishment and joy, with everyone leaving with fond memories and a stronger sense of community.

CHAMPIONS OF THE DAY... the team joyfully accepts their presents after an outstanding performance.

SUKER 2024 was more than just a day of fun; it was a critical step in building the future leaders of the Sarikei Youth Ministry. The success of this event has set a high bar for future activities and has ensured that the ministry is in capable hands as it moves forward.
