SERIAN On 14 May 2023 at the St Theresa’s Parish Centre Building Committee meeting, the Parish Pastoral Council made the decision to concentrate on its project of building the Council’s Pastoral Centre for the benefit of its parishioners.

The St Theresa’s Parish Pastoral Centre Fund was launched after the open-air Holy Mass held at the Mini Sports Complex on 1 October 2000 by then Archbishop Datuk Peter Chung, together with the Rector then, Fr Vincent Chin, and other priests.

The first of its kind open-air Holy Mass, attended by thousands of faithful also celebrated the Parish Feast; closing of the Parish Jubilee Year; launching of the Parish logo and launching of the St Theresa’s Parish Pastoral Centre Fund.

The project of building the Parish Pastoral Centre has received very good response from the parishioners since then. However, the project was unfortunately delayed due to the delay of handing over of the primary school site to the Catholic Mission by the Education Department.

The site of SRB St Teresa was eventually officially handed over to the mission on 30 September 2021. The condemned classrooms of the school were dismantled to make way for the project.

The St Theresa’s Parish Pastoral Council appointed a Parish Centre Building Committee with Dennis Sung, Wilson Banyui and Anthony Taguk unanimously appointed as Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer to lead the newly formed Committee.

At the 14 May Parish Centre Committee meeting chaired by Anthony Taguk on behalf of Chairman Dennis Sung who was unable to attend, it was decided to cordially invite more helpful and generous people to be included in the Building Committee who in due course, can share their experience and knowledge.

They also agreed to hold a meeting soon with the leaders of the various Village Church Management Committees for this matter and subsequently launched the commencement of the project.
