KUCHING — About 800 parishioners including members from the various Ministries of the Church participated in the annual candlelight Corpus Christi Procession at St Peter’s Church, Padungan, on Sunday, 29 May. The procession took off immediately after Sunday Evening Mass.

To mark the occasion, the main aisles of the church were carpeted with fresh flowers incorporating the word ‘Corpus Christi 2016’. Each flower was an expression of thanksgiving to Christ’s presence in the Eucharist.

The parish priest, Fr Vincent Chin in his homily explained that the appearance of the Eucharist has to be in the form of bread and wine. When the transformation takes place, the essence changed from Bread to Body and Wine to Blood but not the appearance of Bread and Wine.

All the devotees sang hymns along the way carrying lighted candles which showcased ‘a sea of lights’.
