KUCHING — The English RCIA team at St Joseph’s Cathedral is going the extra mile to ensure the 2024-2025 batch of RCIA enquirers embark on a truly transformative journey of faith.

Over three weeks in November 2024 and beyond the usual catechesis, the team has partnered with several lay ministries to give the candidates a firsthand experience of the Church’s life and mission.

In collaboration with the Legion of Mary, Bread of Life Covenant Community, and EMPOWERED Ministry, the RCIA and Reception candidates, along with participants from the adult confirmation group, were invited to attend meetings and prayer gatherings hosted by these ministries.

Through these sessions, the candidates experienced a variety of prayer forms, from the devotional practices of the Legion of Mary to the charismatic prayer style and a glimpse of family life ministry in action within the Bread of Life Charismatic Covenant Community. They also engaged in young adults’ fellowship with EMPOWERED Ministry.

The objective of this initiative is to expose the candidates to the breadth of ministry opportunities within the Church and help them discern where they feel called to serve. By immersing them in the Church’s mission, the RCIA team is guiding them to deepen their faith while fostering a sense of belonging and purpose.

May this effort inspire all of us to live out our call to serve in Christ’s mission!
