KUCHING — The Persons Are Gifts (PAG) 3D2N live-in camp for 15 to 17-year-olds for St Peter’s Church Faith Formation was held at the parish centre on 5–7 April, 2024.

This comeback, after a hiatus of many years due to MCO was made possible with the assistance of Fr Ramon Borja SDB, youth ministers of Kuching Archdiocese and PAG graduates.

This camp is an opportunity for young people to discover themselves and others as gifts. Using the analogy of the gift, our participants learn that the person is more important than appearances and that people come in different shapes and sizes with their own unique characteristics and gifts.

Through the sessions, our participants learn to recognise their gifts, talents, and the people in their lives who are gifts. Participants also get to realise that every experience and encounter in their life shapes who they are.

As we end the camp, we bring all that is learnt into the context of relationships: boy-girl, parent-child and God. Throughout the camp, we emphasise that each one is a gift that must be appreciated in relationships of love, acceptance and forgiveness.

This is what some of the participants shared:

For the first time, I stayed overnight outside without my parents. It was a unique experience. I also made many new friends. It was fun making new friends and talking to them. I learnt how to love myself and not care about what other people think. Angeline Jong Yi

I enjoyed the camp a lot. The activities and sessions were fun and the food was also delicious. I also got to learn and appreciate myself better. Jacques Shanly
