KUCHING — About 17 youths and working adults joined a Global Challenge to listen and watch the Word of God. The ONE NATION 2021 is the first global campaign to bring the Gospel of Jesus to the world simultaneously in more than 1,400 languages-mobilising churches and individuals to listen, watch and share God’s Word in their own mother tongue as ONE body in a powerful expression of unity.
The theme of the challenge is supported by the bible verse from Romans 10:17 “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”. This is done through a digital platform called the Bible.is App. The ONE NATION 2021 is a 47-day daily bible listening devotion journeying towards Easter 2021. With gospels ranging from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the members were encouraged to complete their daily devotion by listening to the Word of God at their own given time.
The EMPOWERED Ministry carries out this program by encouraging the members to take turns sharing their prayer and reflection in the group chat according to the Gospel readings of that day. Once a week, they would gather to attend a ‘watch party’ through video call (Zoom) to share and discuss on that week’s bible readings.
The ‘watch party’ consists of prayer sessions for various intentions that were conducted and led by those who joined the watch party. Besides that, sharing on personal stories and witness to Christ’s love in their lives were also one of the main activities through guided questions. This provided an opportunity for the members to not only meet with their fellow group members, but it also created a bond amongst each other by journeying with each other in this Season of Lent.
