KUCHING — A Virtual Youth Prayer Conference—K.A.M.I. KUDUS! (Kerana.Allah.Mengasihi.I. KUDUS!) was organised by the Archdiocesan Single Adults & Youth Office, Kuala Lumpur (ASAYO KL) from 26–27 June 2021 in four languages, namely English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Tamil for youths in Malaysia.

Themed from Christus Vivit 67—each young person’s heart should thus be considered “holy ground”, the weekend saw a collaboration among various church groups in Malaysia such as Psalm 33, Belia HFK, MOVE Youth as well as speakers of the likes of Fr Gregory Chan, Fr Simon Lau and more who hosted sessions to foster connection, discovery, dialogue and prayer.
EMPOWERED Ministry was one of the collaborators who hosted a fun and heart-warming session at 2.00 pm on a Saturday afternoon titled “One Christ One Body”. The aim of the session was to share on community and the various ways of prayer as a community.

The EMPOWERED youths guided the participants to take some dance steps before they joined in a community dance for an experience of praising God through movement. Thereafter, the EMPOWERED community of youths shared some of the charisms of their community through their life stories and experiences, their thoughts and prayers in an engaging dialogue on how the community frequently faced many challenges and that its members are often shaken, but not broken as long as they focused on God and remain faithful in Him.

The youths also testified that being in a community gave them a support system not only in their faith journey but also in their daily lives and how the community has helped to build their individual relationship with God and supported them to lead more purposeful lives.

Overall, all involved in the session had a wonderful afternoon of connecting with new friends and encountered God through one another. Through this conference, the youths were reminded of their value, worth and dignity amidst the uncertainty of these times and that their hearts, mind and body are holy ground.
