KOTA PADAWAN — On 22 November 2024, St Ann’s Church hosted a meaningful day of reflection and gratitude as ministry members came together for a Recollection Day and Thanksgiving Mass on Saturday morning.
The event aimed to renew the spiritual strength of the parish’s various ministries while expressing heartfelt thanks for their dedicated service throughout the year.
The day began with a series of spiritual reflections led by Friar Nelson Evarinus Sipalan, OFM, the newly appointed priest of St Ann’s Church. In his session, Friar Nelson encouraged ministry members to reflect on their roles as stewards of faith, reminding them of their calling to serve with humility, joy, and perseverance.
“This recollection is not only a time to pause and reflect but also an opportunity to reignite our commitment to the ministries we serve,” said Friar Nelson. His words resonated deeply with the attendees, many of whom expressed gratitude for the chance to reconnect with their faith and fellow ministry members.
These discussions fostered a spirit of mutual support and camaraderie among the diverse groups within the parish, such as the Choir, Ladies Guild, Youth Ministry, Faith Formation Team, Wardens, and more.
Following the recollection, a Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated to honour the contributions of all ministries. The liturgy was vibrant, with music, scripture readings, and prayers offered by members representing the various groups.
Friar Don Don Romero Ramerez, OFM in his homily, highlighted the importance of unity in ministry, likening it to the Body of Christ where each member plays a vital role. Everyone was One Body in One Church.
“This Mass is a reminder that your work, often unseen, is deeply valued by God and our parish community. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Christ, and remember the identity. Be humble when serving to the peoples,” he shared.
The Ministry Recollection and Thanksgiving Mass served as a spiritual recharge for the parish, inspiring ministry members to continue their service with renewed vigor and purpose. The event also underscored the unity and dedication of St Ann’s community, setting a strong foundation for the upcoming liturgical year.
