Successful conclusion of Marriage Preparation Course at OLQOP, Sri Aman

SRI AMAN — The Family Life Ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church (OLQOP) in Sri Aman recently held its Marriage Preparation Course (Series 3) on 9–10 November 2024, with 14 couples from Sri Aman, Skrang, Betong, and Lubok Antu attending the two-day programme.

This course was designed to equip couples with essential knowledge and guidance for a Christ-centred marriage, marking a significant step for participants preparing to enter the sacred sacrament of Matrimony.

The event began on Saturday, 9 November, with an opening prayer and introduction led by Mr Colin Robert Lanuk. Following the welcome, Fr Henry Jimbey presented on Marriage Law According to Catholic Teaching, emphasising the Church’s view on the sanctity and lifelong commitment of marriage.

The next session, led by Mr Leo Dennis, addressed the Celebration of Marriage in Malaysia and covered essential advice on the “Do’s and Don’ts” for couples embarking on this journey. Mr Colin Robert Lanuk returned to the podium with a session on Financial Management in Marriage, guiding couples on the importance of financial planning and stability within a family setting.

The day also featured presentations on Family Planning by Mdm Rita Rosly and Mdm Rosnie Anih from the Ministry of Health, followed by Mr Lionel Nyanau, who discussed the concept of the Marriage Covenant, fostering a deep understanding of the promises within a Catholic marriage. Later, Catechist Grace and Mr Joshua Martin led sessions on Spirituality in Marriage and Family Spirituality, underscoring the significance of faith as a foundation in married life.

On Sunday, 10 November, the programme continued with a talk by Catechist Grace titled, The Bible as a Guide for Family Life, highlighting scripture’s role in guiding married couples and families. The course concluded with a closing ceremony and certificate presentation, ending with a closing prayer led by Mr Colin and the organising committee members.

This programme reflected Our Lady Queen of Peace Church’s commitment to nurturing Catholic couples in their spiritual and practical preparations for marriage, creating a strong foundation for their lifelong journey together.
