KUCHING — A Financial Administrators (FA) Workshop was held at a local hotel on 17 and 18 February 2025, attended by about 50 representatives from the nine Roman Catholic Arch/Dioceses in Malaysia. It was hosted by the Archdiocese of Kuching.
The Workshop was facilitated by Peter Loh and teammates Ong Cheng Watt and Shalet Martin from the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur.

The nine Arch/Dioceses in Malaysia are:
Semenanjung
- Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur
- Diocese of Penang
- Diocese of Melaka-Johor
Sabah
- Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu
- Diocese of Sandakan
- Diocese of Keningau
Sarawak
- Archdiocese of Kuching
- Diocese of Sibu
- Diocese of Miri
The purpose of the workshop was to familiarise the arch/dioceses with the essential features of e-Invoicing that the government of Malaysia is implementing.
What is E-Invoicing?
E-Invoicing is a digital version of a transaction record between a supplier and a buyer, serving as a replacement for traditional paper or electronic documents like invoices, credit notes, and debit notes. Essentially, an e-Invoice contains the same salient information as any traditional document, i.e., the supplier’s and buyer’s information, item descriptions, quantity, price (excluding tax), applicable taxes, and the total amount, ensuring accurate transaction documentation for daily business operations.
The workshop discussed the guidelines for e-Invoicing. The three types of e-Invoice are Standard e-Invoice, Consolidated e-Invoice and Self-billed e-Invoice.
It was a fruitful workshop with active interaction between the participants and facilitators. Future workshops are being planned as a follow-up to what had been discussed at this first workshop for all the Catholic arch/dioceses in Malaysia.
Archbishop Simon Poh of Kuching Archdiocese presented tokens of appreciation to the three facilitators at the conclusion of the 2-day workshop, thanking them for their time and invaluable information.
