By Susan Soh

MIRI — The Gymkhana Club, Miri echoed with joy and excitement as three Catholic kindergartens held a combined 2023 graduation day on Saturday, 27 January, 2024. Children in traditional costumes greeted Miri Bishop Richard Ng and escorted him into the hall. Bishop Richard was accompanied by members of the Board of Management, Susan Soh and Clare Wong and principals of the kindergartens.

The principals gave a brief speech introducing their respective schools. The principals stressed that emphasis is placed mastering language skills, both reading, writing and speaking and numeracy. Most graduates of our kindergartens are able to cope very well in Primary 1. Some are also able to enter the Chinese primary schools of their choice.

On behalf of the Board of Management, Susan Soh commended the collaboration between parents, teachers, and the Church, in shaping young minds and building a strong moral foundation to develop the children’s characters. Developing moral character is one of the missions of Catholic kindergartens.
