SANDAKAN Seminarians Arthur John and Andy Borine Tingadon have publicly declared their intention to pursue Holy Orders to the immense joy of the diocesan faithful despite masks and social distancing.

They were officially accepted as candidates for the ordination during the Rite of Admission to Candidacy for Holy Orders at St Mary’s Cathedral here during the Sunday Bahasa Malaysia Mass Jan 17 by Bishop Julius Dusin Gitom. Assisting the Sandakan prelate was parish priest Fr David Garaman.

The Diaconate Ordinations for both seminarians will be held on Jan 24, at 9.30am at St Mary’s Cathedral.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and to ensure public safety, participation from the laity for this celebration is subject to the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) in practice. However, a live-streamed Mass will be available for greater virtual participation from the laity.

It is the fervent prayer of the Church that they will always be faithful to the Diaconal Ministry of Service of Word, Liturgy and Charity to which they are about to be ordained. The faithful were urged to keep them in prayer as they prepare for entering into this sacred ministry.
