My first Holy Week in St Peter’s College was indeed blessed. While it was occupied with manual works and preparations, spiritual activities were also there to keep us stay focused and direct our hearts and minds toward the Paschal Mystery.

Personally, the highlight of the spiritual exercises was the recollection day at Catholic Memorial and Pilgrimage Centre, Mount Singai. The slow pace of the mini-pilgrimage has allowed me to contemplate the meanings of specific events that took place on the last day of Jesus’ earthly journey.

Jesus’ falls remind me that the journey of faith is always a “work in progress”. Therefore, I should be patient with myself. Jesus went through His passion for me, and the reason for Him to rise after each fall was that He has me in mind – He knew that strength is needed for me to stand again, to trust in Him, and to continue the journey after each fall caused by my weaknesses. Failure will never have the final say, because the Lord has conquered it.
