KUCHING — The former principal of St Joseph’s Private Secondary School (SJPS), Fr Francis Lim Chin Choy SJ, has been appointed the new MAS Socius and Admonitor to the Regional Superior for the Malaysia-Singapore Region of the Society of Jesus, Fr Christopher Soh SJ.
In the Society of Jesus, the mission of Socius to the Regional Superior/ Provincial is to be his assistant, consultor, secretary and admonitor. For the Malaysia-Singapore Region of the Society of Jesus (MAS), they have the MAS Socius.
Fr Francis Lim was appointed the new MAS Socius by the Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Fr Arturo Sosa SJ on 15 March 2022. He will hold this new post in addition to his current role as MAS Communications Officer.
Fr Francis left Kuching last year to return to the Jesuit Regional Office in Singapore. He was Principal of SJPS from June 2012 until September 2021. He took a sabbatical year in 2018 when he went for tertianship, a Jesuit programme taken several years after priestly ordination.
Kuching Archbishop Simon Poh, Archbishops Emeriti Peter Chung and John Ha, Priests and especially SJPS, have conveyed their heartfelt congratulations to Fr Francis Lim as he takes on this new ministry with the Jesuit, for the Glory of the Lord and the Church.
