SIBULUH, Bau — St Mathew’s Church, Sibuluh organised a half-day in-house training for their various church ministries at the Church premise on 31 August. It was the first ever held in Bau parish for kampong level. It was part of the comprehensive programme for St Mathew’s Church. About 120 participants turned up for the training.
The objectives of the in house training were (1) to ensure that everyone has specific roles in the church and the opportunity to participate in those roles in one way or another; (2) to have a better understanding on Church Liturgy basic principles; (3) to provide the opportunity to learn and relearn and update on many new things on Church Liturgy in order to readily adapt to the changes.
The day began with slideshow showing milestone of the events and celebrations of St Mathew’s Church, followed by words of inspiration from the motivator, Disin Nyayom. Praise and worship session led by Catholic Youth Movement, Olivia Patricia and Clara Jimie then followed.
The chairman of St Mathew’s Church Sibuluh, Jefry Rase in his welcoming note expressed his appreciation to all the participants who took time to attend the in-house training. He said their attendance reflected the seriousness and eagerness in serving the Lord.
The topics covered the roles of lectors, commentators, altar servers, choirs and music, warden, church cleanliness and Sacristans. Other topics included faith formation and the importance of praying rosary at the grotto. The sessions were interspersed with sharing of personal testimonies.
Winding up the training, catechist Francis Lehier thanked the facilitators for their support and time and all those who have served in the parish during the past year and encouraged them to continue doing so in the year ahead. He urged everyone to be more committed, to look forward with a positive attitude and to work together to build up the Church. He also hoped that the in-house training would further define and restate the role, duties and responsibilities of the community and thus enrich, recharge and refresh its members to move on with the mission of the Church.
“What matters the most”, he continued, “is the desire of selfless service through humility and love, and above all, a gift given out of love in a spirit of generosity and sacrifice.”
The training ended with photograph session and light refreshment.
