KUCHING — 22 members of the EMPOWERED Ministry, along with their family and friends, joined in the fun and fellowship with other parishioners at the St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish Family Day (PFD) on the morning of 29 September 2024. The Ministry operated three stalls to support the parish in raising funds for the operations and maintenance of the Cathedral and ACCPC.

With the three stalls, the Ministry was able to sell fried noodles and kueh teow cooked by Joshua Voon and friends, hot drinks, lemang, nasi lemak, cut fruits like guava and watermelon, brownies, cookies, tuak, tissue pouches, assorted chips, and pre-loved household items.

Adding to the fun of the PFD, a special game was conducted where parishioners could pay to guess the weight of a wintermelon and stand a chance to take it home for the most accurate weight guess. At 12.45 pm, the wintermelon was officially weighed and the weight was announced at 8.55kg. More than 70 parishioners took part in guessing the weight of the wintermelon and two winners emerged with the right guess namely Victor, a seminarian from St Peter’s College Major Seminary, and Lillian, a parishioner.

Some members of the Ministry also walked around the PFD compound and the car park areas of the Cathedral to sell to parishioners who have finished celebrating Sunday Masses that morning. The Ministry was blessed by sponsors who contributed in cash and in kind for the youths to help sell at the four Pre-Sales and on the actual PFD.

EMPOWERED Ministry wishes its heartfelt gratitude to all its sponsors, supporters, and patrons!
