KUCHING — EMPOWERED Ministry celebrated Easter this year with close-bonding activities to foster fellowship among members in the community. In view of the Aidilfitri public holidays, the young adult members of the Ministry had an outdoor excursion on Wednesday, 10 April to a riverbank at Adis Soli at Kampung Segong, Bau. The small group excursion was a part of the Young Adults Meet Group of the Ministry consisting of members who are tertiary students and working adults who usually meet fortnightly on Wednesdays. Attendees enjoyed the beautiful nature and one another’s company by cooking together and spent time in the serene river.
On Friday, 19 April, leaders and some members of the Ministry organised a session for the participants of the Kuching Archdiocesan Youth Apostolate (KAYA) 30 at St Lukas Centre, Kota Padawan. The evening began with a praise session led by Bailey and the EMPOWERED Music Team and then Ralph facilitated a session on the Roman Catholic Church. After sharing on the characteristics, structure, and tenets of the Church, the KAYA participants were divided into groups and accompanied by members from the Ministry for group conversations on topics relating to the Church, and followed by a questions and answers session, and concluded with a worship session led by the Music Team.
Finally, on Saturday, 27 April, the Ministry had an Easter Party at St Thomas Room of the Parish Centre with friends, food, and fun!
After the Sunset Mass that day, the party began with a simple introduction and prayer before enjoying food shared by all attendees.
After settling from the food, the attendees competed in friendly group games with each other. Members who joined the party were mainly young adults and also invited seminarians from St Peter’s College Seminary.
