Pastoral Letter on Earthquake in Myanmar
and Regional Solidarity Appeal
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Peace be with you
It is with a heavy heart that I write to you following the recent and devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand. The destruction has been extensive – especially in Myanmar, where thousands have lost their lives, countless more have been injured or displaced, and entire communities, including Catholic parishes and missions, have been reduced to rubble.
In the face of such suffering and devastation, we, the Church in Malaysia, is called to respond – not only with compassion and prayers but with concrete acts of solidarity and hope. Let us unite our hearts with the people of Myanmar and Thailand during this painful time. Let us remember them in our prayers and respond generously to their urgent needs.

We also urge you to accompany your giving with earnest prayer – for the victims and their families, for all relief workers and volunteers, and especially for those who are suffering in silence and despair. Thank you for your unwavering faith, your compassion, and your witness to the Gospel in action.
