KUCHING Christ The King OCDS community was recently blessed with the visit of their Definitor from Rome, Fr Christianus Surinono, OCD. In order to celebrate his auspicious visit, CTK community took the opportunity to move forward their 23rd anniversary celebration.

CTK community held a dialogue session with Fr Christianus (Fr Chris) outside the Carmelite Chapel on 30 April. During the session, Fr Chris reminded all present of their commitment to the promise to live the spirit of the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty and obedience.

He admitted that we cannot deny that every community has its own difficulties and challenges. However, he assured us that these problems can be overcome if we accept each other as brother and sister. We are to ask ourselves what we can contribute or give to the community instead of what we can get from the community.

Fr Chris also reminded us that community activities take precedence over personal apostolates.

To mark the 23rd CTK anniversary, everyone then adjourned to a local Chinese restaurant for a thanksgiving dinner.

CTK community continued their 23rd anniversary celebration on 1 May, the Feast of St Joseph the Worker, with a thanksgiving Mass held at the Carmelite Chapel celebrated by Fr Chris. Fr Chris in his homily urged us to learn commitment, purity and respect from St Joseph.

The professed OCDS members also renewed their evangelical promises during the Mass as they do so yearly, during Eastertide. Breakfast at a local café concluded the celebration.
