COVID-19: Local Bishops among Phase 2 group receiving first dose of vaccine

KUCHING The Sarawak government implemented Phase 2 of the COVID-19 Vaccination programme intended for Kuching senior citizens aged 60 and above and those with chronic illnesses or comorbidities, at Stadium Perpaduan in Petra Jaya, on 23 April.

Among those registered to receive their vaccinations on the first day were Archbishop Simon Poh and Archbishop Emeritus Peter Chung, of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kuching. Archbishop Emeritus John Ha is scheduled to be vaccinated on Sunday.

Anglican Bishop Danald Jute was also one of the bishops who received vaccinations on the same day.

When asked how he felt after the first dose of his vaccine, Archbishop Simon Poh responded, “Ok. Not too bad. I was able to work without discomfort the whole afternoon.”

Latest COVID-19 Report

Malaysia reported 2,847 COVID-19 infections on 23 April, remaining above the 2,000 mark for nine consecutive days. Sarawak recorded 717 new cases with two deaths.

According to the statement from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the total number of clusters that are still active within the 21 red zones in Sarawak, stands at 56.
