KUCHING — It was a good day at St Joseph’s Private Secondary School (SJPSS) on 8 June 2023 as a total of 27 students scored straight As and 11 students with all As and 1B in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2022 examination. A total of 62 students achieved B or better in all subjects.

The school had 159 students taking the SPM examination in February and March this year and their performance was indeed heartening for all in school. One student scored 10A+ and 1A and another 9A+ and 1A.

The Chief Executive Officer of the St Joseph’s Family of Schools, of which SJPSS is a part of, was on hand to meet the graduates as they came to collect their results. He was accompanied by the Senior Assistants of the school.

SJPSS Acting Principal Fr Stanley Goh, SJ, who was unfortunately unable to be present in school that day, sent his congratulations to the graduates on their commendable performance in the SPM examinations, despite the fact that they had to endure years of disruption due to the pandemic.

“I’m very proud of how our students have been able to rise above all the challenges that they faced in their years of school to do well. The Josephian spirit of courage and wisdom was shown by all of them as they managed to meet the challenges head-on while learning and growing in the process.”

Fr Stanley added, “I join our students in thanking the dedicated teachers we have in our school who so ably accompanied our students for all their years in the school. Teachers do so much more than teach and impart knowledge as they were a constant source of strength and encouragement for our students, especially during the difficult times of the pandemic. As we congratulate our students, we also extend much gratitude to all teachers for all that they are.”
