SIBU — A total of 257 Catholics received their Sacrament of Confirmation at Sacred Heart Cathedral (SHC) last Saturday, 22 October 2022.
They are from the Iban group, Chinese group and English group.
Bishop of Sibu Right Reverend Joseph Hii celebrated the Mass, assisted by the SHC rector Reverend Father Philip Hu.
In giving his homily during the Confirmation Mass, Hii reminded all confirmands that they are to be missionary disciples sent out to spread the Gospel.
He pointed out that to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation is their response to God’s love in their lives.
“Because God loves us, he wants to give completely everything to us. The Holy Spirit is the ultimate love of God,” he said.
He also said that receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation means that they are to be witnesses of the Gospel and reach out to other people in the world.
He also urged all those being confirmed to pray for one another.
