KUCHING — The Commission for Mission and Human Development Kuching Archdiocesan Pastoral Council organised ‘A Christmas Gift’, a Christmas charity chorale concert at three venues from 26 – 29 December 2019.
The two-hour Christmas Concert at Blessed Sacrament Church started at 2pm on 29 December. The beneficiaries of the concert are: Home of Peace, situated on 5.35 acres of land at Kota Padawan and is a home for the elderly (wholly owned by the Catholic Welfare Services of Sarawak), and the Migrant Ministry.
The Migrant Ministry is an apostolate under the Commission for Mission and Human Development in the Archdiocese of Kuching.
Before the concert, Father Felix Au gave an opening statement, followed by an opening prayer by Archbishop Simon Poh, who invited all to celebrate Christmas as a season of giving and sharing of the Lord’s mercy, love and blessing.
The concert started with songs presented by the Christmas Concert Choir and was conducted by Benedict JC Lo who had a dream and initiated the ‘Christmas Gift’ concert. The audience was later invited to sing along to the song ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’.
There were also performances from the D’Quaver Strings Ensemble and SJPS Chamber Choir.
The Christmas Charity Chorale Concert ended on a high note with an ensemble performance of ‘When You Believe’. It was a well spent two-hour entertaining afternoon for the crowd of about 700.
Archbishop Simon Poh closed the event with a final blessing, wishing all a Holy Christmas and Blessed New Year 2020.
