Christian women united in prayer and outreach

KUCHING — On 2 March the 2012 Unity Week Prayer Service was held at St Peter’s Church, Padungan. This annual Prayer Service was organised by the Women Ministry of the Association of Churches in Sarawak and was hosted by the Catholic women this year.

Sr Adriana gave an interesting talk on the theme “Good Managers of God’s varied gifts.” She commended the women on being good managers of God’s varied gifts as being the “front-line educators” in the family. She also exhorted the participants to continue witnessing to God and to impart their faith to family and community as God gives everyone talents like the dewfall.

A special blessing by Fr Vincent Chin closed the Prayer Service.

On 3-4 March, 510 Christian ladies from the Catholic and Anglican Churches, Seventh Day Adventist, Salvation Army and SIB took part in the Unity Week Outreach Visit to Bebanggai, Betong. The evening celebration began with a Bible Enthronement Service by Fr Martin Wong. In his homily Fr Martin touched on the theme “Good Managers of God’s Varied Gifts.” A Taize prayer session and the presentation of school bags and stationeries to four needy primary school students were part of the programme.

On Sunday the Catholic women attended the 10.30 am Mass at the Church of Holy Family and had a fellowship with the parishioners after Mass.
