KUCHING — The Holy Week observances for 2024 at the Chapel of Mother Mary Stutong has come to a close, marking the end of the Lenten Season to usher in the arrival of Christ our Risen Lord.
Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday at the Chapel was celebrated with two separate Masses on 24 March 2024.
In the morning at 8.30 am, Mass was celebrated in Bahasa Malaysia while during the evening at 6.00 pm, Mass was celebrated in English.
Both Masses were celebrated by Msgr William Sabang, Rector of Chapel of Mother Mary, Stutong.
Holy Thursday
The Chapel celebrated Holy Thursday Mass 2024 at 8.00 pm on 28 March 2024 in English and in Bahasa Malaysia.
Later it was followed by the Adoration of the Holy Eucharist which took place until 11.00 pm. During the Adoration of the Holy Eucharist, the chapel Youth Choir led the Taizé song.
Msgr William celebrated Holy Thursday Mass with Fr Albert concelebrating.
Good Friday
Good Friday Service 2024 at Chapel of Mother Mary, Stutong was held on 29 March 2024, 3.00 pm in English and in Bahasa Malaysia.
Good Friday Service was celebrated by Msgr William Sabang, Rector of Chapel of Mother Mary, Stutong. Archbishop Emeritus Peter Chung concelebrated.
Holy Saturday
Holy Saturday Mass 2024 at Chapel of Mother Mary Stutong was celebrated at 8.00 pm on 30 March 2024 in combined English and Bahasa Malaysia by Msgr William Sabang and concelebrated by Archbishop Emeritus Peter Chung.
During the Mass, eight Elects having undergone almost one year of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A) programme received the Sacrament of Baptism and the Sacrament of Confirmation and for their first time, partook in receiving Holy Communion.
Easter Sunday
On 31 March 2024, two Holy Masses were celebrated during Easter Sunday 2024, in Bahasa Malaysia at 8.30 am and in English at 6.00pm respectively.
Msgr William Sabang celebrated both Masses.
