SRI AMAN — On Sunday, 23 February 2025, the Blessed Sacrament Church (BSC) Sunset Mass Choir embarked on a pilgrimage to Mount Hosanna Chapel in Sri Aman which was attended by 38 choir members and their families.
Coinciding with the Jubilee Year 2025 and in preparation for the Lenten season, the pilgrimage was most definitely a meaningful spiritual experience for all the members.
The pilgrimage began at 6:30 am with a briefing and a short prayer for safe travels. The journey was filled with prayer and song, starting with the rosary led by senior members, followed by hymns such as “Ave Verum”, “Dalam Yesus Kita Bersaudara”, and “The Cup of Life Outpoured”, sung by younger members.
A brief stop at Pekan Lachau allowed the members to rest and explore the local market before continuing to the Chapel.
Arriving at 9:20 am, they joined the final part of the rosary and the Divine Mercy recitation before attending the 10:15 am Mass led by Father Jerome Juleng. The Sunset Choir was not the only pilgrimage group to attend Mass as they were joined by a delegation from Sabah, who sang the final hymn in Kadazandusun.
A commemorative photo session with Father Jerome followed before the group descended the steps in a solemn procession, singing Latin hymns.
Lunch was served at Sri Aman, where pre-ordered meals ensured a smooth dining experience. The spirit of fellowship was evident as members of different age groups interacted with each other while enjoying their meals. Once everything was sorted and done, choir members boarded the bus for the trip home. On the way back, members recited the Divine Mercy prayer at 3:00 pm before relaxing for the remainder of the trip.
The bus arrived at Blessed Sacrament Church at 5:45 pm, concluding the pilgrimage. With everyone exchanging their goodbyes, their hearts were without a doubt imbued with the burning passion of the Holy Spirit.
As choir member Joel Kho Zhu Yang reflected, “My pilgrimage to Sri Aman was an unforgettable journey, both spiritually and emotionally. Travelling with my choir made it even more meaningful. It wasn’t just about reaching a place, it strengthened our bond, deepened our faith, and created lasting memories. This experience gave me a new perspective on prayer, music, and fellowship, making it a memory I will cherish for years.”
