KUCHING — On 18 December, two cheques amounting RM42,200 each for Rural Churches and Yayasan La Sallian Kuching were presented to Archbishop John Ha and Peter Yap (Chairman of Yayasan La Sallian) respectively by Raymond Teo, who spearheaded the publication of Living Our Faith.
The book Living Our Faith is a compilation of 104 articles written by De La Salle Br Columba Gleeson, originally published in Today’s Catholic. It was put together by him and some of his former pupils from the Class of ’63 of Sacred Heart School (Sibu) and launched on 2 October 2013.
The simple ceremony was witnessed by AZAM CEO Datu Aloysius Dris, representatives from Yayasan La Sallian, and Patsda Liew who supervised the design and printing of the book.Prior to that, Raymond Teo also presented the Statement of Account for the sales of the book. He reported that as of 18 December, the total turnover from sales and donations amounted to RM94,859.02 while the nett income was RM84,609.52.
“We have very limited copies of books left. Hopefully we are able to close the joint account by the end of February 2014,” said Raymond. Henceforth, all proceeds collected and the accrued interest will be chanelled to the Rural Churches via the Archbishop’s Office.
A special Mass was offered on 31 December to thank the Lord for the success of Living Our Faith. The working committee extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported the cause and contributed generously in cash and kind.
Limited copies of Living Our Faith at RM15 each are still available at St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish Office, Kuching (082-423424) and Sacred Heart Secondary School, Sibu (084-322619 / 019-8175150).
