Blessed Sacrament Church RCIA Christmas & New Year Gathering

Happy New Year!

By Diana Marie

KUCHING — The 7 January 2024 weekend was the first RCIA class for the year, and it was no coincidence that it was the celebration of the Epiphany of the Lord.

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon with the RCIA candidates, sponsors, facilitators, and guests gathered to celebrate Christmas and the New Year spirit uniquely and memorably, at the Blessed Sacrament Church. With Christmas songs in the background, the room was filled with anticipation, excitement and joy.

The event kicked off with a prayer huddle to thank God for the opportunity to gather and to ask for God’s blessings upon all, as well as on the gathering. The event was a potluck, and everyone brought their favourite food to share, creating a diverse and delicious spread that truly represented the unity in our diversity.

Celebrating Christmas and New Year together with our fellow RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) candidates can be a very special experience and can also help the candidates understand the significance of Jesus’ birth and the joy and hope it brings to the world. This fellowship was also a reminder of our love and support for each other and the shared faith that brings us together.

As we look forward to the coming year, we are filled with hope and gratitude. We are thankful for the blessings of the past year and excited for what the New Year holds for our community.

In the spirit of the New Year, we extend our warmest wishes to all. May joy, peace, and love fill your hearts and homes. We thank God for the many blessings He has endowed us and pray for our catechumens and candidates, always.
