KUCHING In light of the current political turmoil and the pandemic outbreak of Covid-19, the Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) has released the following press statement:

For all Christians and Churches in Sarawak.

1. PRAYER FOR OUR BELOVED NATION MALAYSIA

The Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) requests that fasting, penance and intercessions be offered for our beloved nation Malaysia, for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Rulers and political leaders, to make sound decisions for the common good of our nation and rakyat.

“I urge then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” (1 Tim 2:1-2)

ACS rejects all forms of religious fundamentalism and racial-based politics that will cause disharmony and division in our nation.

  • The candidate for Prime Minister must reject religious extremism and be committed to racial unity and religious harmony in our tanahair MALAYSIA.
  • Prime Minister is for ALL Malaysians, not for any particular race or religion.

2. PRAYER IN TIME OF OUTBREAK OF COVID-19

Amidst this COVID-19 outbreak, let us remain vigilant, ensure hygienic practices and maintain health precautions in all our houses of worship. Let us intercede for the current COVID 19 outbreak that is adversely affecting the world’s economy, the lives and health of so many people throughout Malaysia and the world.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

ACS is committed to promotion of peace, harmony, unity, integrity, social development and well-being for all Malaysians of all races, creed and cultures.
