Another fruitful year for St Joseph’s International School, Kuching

KUCHING — Hard work, talents and skills are the three variables in the equation of success. This is evident in the learning environment of the school where the coordinates of students, teachers and management are viable.

The 2022 batch of graduates who received their IGCSE results on the 18 January were thankfully rewarded with noteworthy results. Their initial anxiety was replaced by instant relief when they saw their results.

A total of 19 students out of the 80 students obtained straight As, including 5 who achieved A* in all subjects. The 5 ‘cream of the crop’ are Carmen Kueh Ning (11A*), Chloe Nio Ern (9A*), Hii Mao Ann (8A*), Liaw Yi Xuen (8A*) and Michelle Jong Jia Wen (7A*).

Indeed, the school has recorded consistent improvement in most subjects over the last three years. Principal, Brother Robert is hopeful that the impressive results will encourage more students to join the institution and to register for the global Cambridge programme.

At present, the school has a total student enrolment of 363 stretching from Year 7 (Form 1) to Year 13 (Upper 6). Though still young in age, the school has bravely embraced a holistic approach to learning by being a pioneer in offering Physical Education and Music as exam subjects.

In complementing the curriculum, various events are organised to put to trial the practicality of what has been learnt. This attempt to provide opportunities to students to develop their talents paid off well when the students achieved delightful results. 

To date, numerous projects and educational trips have been organised in a concerted effort to provide a balanced and wholesome education, only halting during the Covid-19 pandemic duration. Such projects and trips open up doors to practical learning environment and experience which are limited within the four walls of the classroom. In fact, some major and minor developments are in the pipeline in the next few years.
