KUCHING — On 8 July 2023, the Personal Child Safety Awareness (PCSA) Team organised a two and half hour talk at ACCPC for 83 children aged 9-10 years old.
Children were made fully aware of their rights regarding sexual abuse. They were taught how to protect themselves against abusers.
Fr Albert Jacobse, the team’s Spiritual Advisor, read Matthew 18:1-7 and blessed the children before the session started.
Why Personal Safety Lesson?
- To provide every child with personal safety information and skills so that they can protect themselves from sexual abuse, and how to tell a trusted adult should they encounter an abuse.
- To teach children skills and to build self-esteem.
- Personal Safety is a major Life Skill empowering children to assert their rights to feel safe at all times.
- Children are taught the correct names of private body parts.
- The program also includes Cyber Safety.
The PCSA Team are not social workers. They are volunteers giving awareness talks for the safety of children.
