HE Archbishop Wojciech Zaluski appointed as new Apostolic Nuncio to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR (29 September 2020) — The Apostolic Nunciature, Malaysia has released news of the appointment of a new Apostolic Nuncio to Malaysia. In wishing him warm and cordial salutations from all the dioceses and bishops, the Apostolic Nunciature released the following statement:

His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed His Excellency Archbishop Wojciech Zaluski as Apostolic Nuncio to Malaysia and to Timor-Leste (with residence in Kuala Lumpur), and Apostolic Delegate to Brunei Darussalam.

Archbishop Wojciech Zaluski was born in Zahiski-Lipniewo (Poland) on 5 April 1960. He was ordained a priest on 1 June 1985 for the Diocese of Lomza (Poland). He joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See on 1 July 1989, after attending the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in Rome with a Diploma in Diplomatic Science and Doctorate’s degree in Canon Law. He served successively in the Apostolic Nunciatures in Burundi, Malta, Albania, Zambia, Sri Lanka, Georgia, Ukraine, Philippines, and Guatemala.

On 15 July 2014, Pope Francis named him Apostolic Nuncio to Burundi and Titular Archbishop of Diocleziana. He received his episcopal consecration on 9 August 2014 from Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State. He knows the following languages: English; French; Spanish; Italian; Russian.
