KUCHING — The ever-popular contemporary Christian song, “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord),” was written by Matt Redman, and first released in 2011. The students, teachers, staff and friends of St Joseph’s Private School under the direction of a teacher of the school, Mr Benedict JC Lo, got together during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to perform the cover of this song.
The music was mixed by a 2020 Form 5 student, Nathan Alan, with vocal and video edited by Mr Benedict JC Lo. A big shoutout to all those who participated in this project, either in singing or in playing the various musical instruments. Much hard work and perseverance had been put into this project, especially by Mr Benedict Lo.
Special mention is made of Mr Danison Chen who played the sape which is a Sarawak Orang Ulu traditional instrument that looks like a guitar. The soothing sound of this instrument complements the worship and praise of this beautiful song.
This video was launched on the Solemnity of St Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus, 31 July 2020. St Joseph’s Private Secondary School is managed by the Jesuits.
