Visit to Tijirak-Sinjok

LOST! ... St Peter's team lost 1-10 to Tijarak-Sinjok youth in a football match

KUCHING — On Sunday, 25 September, 47 parishioners from St Peter’s Church, Padungan set off on a goodwill visit to Christ theKingChurch at Kpg Tijirak-Sinjok,KM32 Kuching-Serian Road, as part of FFC’s (Faith Formation for Children) 10 year anniversary celebration.

The St Peter’s group was warmly welcomed by Christ theKingChurch. In the packed church, the Mass was led by Fr William Lee, a Franciscan friar fromSingapore. Fr William gave a rousing sermon about God’s calling and how we should not be “NATO” – “No Action! Talk Only!” The Mass ended with an individual blessing of all the children and youth and was followed by a photo session. Shortly after that, the group headed off to the community hall.

As the food and gifts were prepared at the community hall, some of the adults and youths set off to the field for a friendly match with the youths of Tijirak-Sinjok. The makeshift team of St Peter’s were no match to the youths of Tijirak-Sinjok and were thoroughly thrashed 1 – 10 in the 20 minute football match. After the match the spectators and players alike returned to the hall for a joint fellowship.

Overall it was a very enjoyable trip for all involved and many hope that it will not be the last.
