KUCHING In the afternoon of Saturday, 16 November, a Thanksgiving Party was held at the Blessed Sacrament Church (BSC) hall that saw the coming together of three groups of children ministries of the BSC Parish.

In answer to the call for more collaborative outreach efforts within the parish, the BSC Tuition Ministry, the Boys’ Brigade 11th Kuching Company and the Girls’ Brigade 11th Kuching Company decided to take the first step by bringing together their children of various backgrounds for a year-end thanksgiving gathering that emphasised on friendship and fellowship.

It was also an event to thank the parents and supporters of the BSC Tuition Ministry that has, over the last two years, focused on the education of the needy in the parish area.

The thanksgiving party started with the registration of the children and the formation of heterogeneous groups.

In his opening address, Simon Pui, the coordinator of BSC Tuition Ministry thanked all the family members and supporters who made the time to be there. He also expressed his gratitude to those who spearheaded this effort in organizing and planning this event.

Rector of the Parish, Fr Felix Au, said an opening prayer to bless the event.

Captain Clement Sii of the Boys’ Brigade 11th Kuching Company led the seventy children in the ice-breaking and team-building games. This was followed by the exchange of gifts.

The pupils from the BSC Tuition Ministry gave sweets to their new friends. The Girls’ Brigade 11th Kuching Company officers, led by Captain Julita Chen, brought Christmas gifts for the pupils.

After the group photo-taking session and a prayer of blessing, all were treated to sumptuous food that had been generously contributed by the parents, teachers, officers and supporters.

The BSC Tuition Ministry is recruiting new volunteers as teachers for next year. No teaching experience is needed. If you are interested, please contact Simon Pui at 0198766494 or the parish office during office hours.

For children and youths who are interested in the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigades 11th Kuching Company, they may contact Captain Clement Sii at 0168958393 or Captain Julita Chen at 0168968277 respectively.
