KUCHING — Kuching Comitium of the Legion of Mary in the Archdiocese of Kuching recently organised a yearly retreat at the Holy Trinity Church, from the 10 – 11 August. A total of 155 legionaries and friends came together in this one and half day retreat made up of prayer and learning experiences.

Apart from that, this annual retreat also gave the retreatants the experience of peace of mind, away from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives, besides the opportunity to mingle and to get to know each other better.

For the past few years, the retreat master for these retreats has been Rev. Deacon Dr. Sherman Kuek who is a permanent deacon of the Catholic Church, a secular Franciscan and also a theologian.

This year, Deacon Sherman Kuek has once again graced the attendees with his wonderful insight and knowledge into the mysteries of the Holy Rosary – the Luminous Mysteries. He also dives into the very deep meanings of it and reminds us what it means to be a Catholic, why we pray and ultimately, how to become a better Catholic in serving our vocations and also the people around us.

The retreat concluded with a reflection of the fifth mystery of the Luminous Mysteries, the Institution of the Eucharist, with Deacon Sherman Kuek telling the legionaries that bringing the eucharist to life requires love and sacrifice.
