KUCHING — On 26 March 2025, the Catholic Senior Citizen Fellowship of St Theresa Serian organised the Jubilee Year Pilgrimage to St Peter’s Church, Padungan.

This spiritual pilgrimage included 42 participants from St Theresa’s senior citizen fellowship’s members led by the Chairman Mr Harrison Lisem and the highest committee members.

By answering the call of the Year of pilgrimage to five (5) Pilgrimage Centres in Archdiocese of Kuching, that is “Pilgrimage is a journey to encounter God, one another, and oneself,  it brings renewal and acceptance of the gift of salvation found in Jesus Christ.  Even when the journey leads through the wilderness. HOPE (Roman5:5) make it possible.”

Later on a Mass was celebrated by Fr Christopher Laden and the pilgrimage ended with a tour and explanation by the Church tour guide about the progress of making the new Church into its present outcome.  The CSCF will move on to our next pilgrimage destination in time to come.

Pilgrimage is a symbol of life

Through this pilgrimage we make a journey to walk to make ourselves more useful instead of staying put, useless and dead.  If we make ourselves more useful by doing our part in the Church society, our Church is a living Church and our soul is meaningful according to the word of God.

In (Mathew 5:13-16) “You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Therefore, by doing so we can be doing many things that one can do for the Church community by assisting others to seek God.
