KUCHING (Dec 10) — The Sarawak Association of Churches Samarahan Branch (ACSSB), in collaboration with the Methodist Church, successfully hosted the Christmas Parade and Celebration themed ‘Peace Be With You’ last Saturday evening.
The event began at St Francis’ Church Kota Samarahan, passed through residential areas, and concluded at Farley Supermarket Kota Samarahan.
“The Christmas Parade and Celebration took place with great fanfare. This is the first Christmas parade event since 2018, and the public Christmas celebration attracted many local residents,” ACSSB said in a statement today.
“The event was aimed to convey the message of Christmas joy and peace. Approximately 700 church members from various denominations of the ACSSB participated in the parade,” it added.
Following the parade, the Christmas celebration continued on the stage outside Farley Supermarket.
The celebration featured a variety of programmes, including choir performances, dance shows, and a blessed draw, all presented by different denominational churches under the ACSSB.
The celebration attracted about 800 spectators, creating a strong festive atmosphere.
The preacher for the event, Revd Steward Damat from the Sarawak Iban Annual Conference Methodist Church, shared a message about the birth of Jesus Christ and how his love is meant to transform this generation.
The organisers stated that this event was not only a religious celebration but also an opportunity for community cohesion, showcasing the spirit of multiculturalism and religious harmony in the Samarahan community.
