Commissioning of New Prayer Leaders and Renewal of Commitment for Existing Leaders

By Sacred Heart Parish

KOTA SENTOSA — On Saturday, 14 September 2024, the parish community of Sacred Heart Church, Kota Sentosa gathered in reverence for a solemn and grace-filled sunset Mass.

The liturgy featured the commissioning of new prayer leaders, the renewal of commitment by existing leaders, and the blessing of the Sacred Heart statue, all of which served to deepen the spiritual life of the parish and its faithful.

In a sacred moment during the Eucharistic celebration, new prayer leaders were commissioned to serve the parish. Having responded to God’s call, these men and women dedicated themselves to the ministry of prayer, offering their lives in service to lead the faithful in communal worship.

The priest, invoking the Holy Spirit, laid hands upon them and imparted a special blessing, praying that they may be strengthened with the gifts of wisdom, humility, and love as they guide others in prayer and devotion.

This commissioning was not only a personal commitment but a communal one, as the congregation bore witness to the commissioning and pledged their support. The new leaders were reminded that their ministry is a participation in the priestly, prophetic, and kingly office of Christ, fostering a deeper connection to the Church’s mission of evangelisation and sanctification.

In an act of profound faith and humility, existing prayer leaders renewed their commitment to continue their ministry. As they stood before the altar, they reaffirmed their dedication to leading the community in prayer, drawing strength from Christ and the Church.

This renewal underscored their ongoing role in helping to sustain the spiritual life of the parish and the vital importance of perseverance in their vocation. The priest’s blessing invoked God’s grace upon them, that they may continue to serve with zeal, fidelity, and a deep love for the Church.

After the Mass, the congregation gathered outside the Church for the solemn blessing of the newly installed Sacred Heart statue. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a powerful symbol of Christ’s infinite love, mercy, and compassion for humanity. As the priest led the prayer of blessing, the statue was consecrated to the Sacred Heart, and the faithful were invited to renew their own personal devotion to the loving heart of Christ.

The blessing of the statue was a visible sign of the community’s desire to be drawn ever closer to the mercy and love of the Saviour. The statue now stands as a focal point for prayer, contemplation, and a reminder of Christ’s enduring presence in the life of the parish.

This grace-filled evening was a powerful witness to the vibrancy of the parish’s spiritual life. Through the commissioning of new leaders, the renewal of those already serving, and the blessing of the Sacred Heart statue, the faithful were reminded of their shared mission to live out the Gospel with hearts open to God’s love and service to others.
