KUCHING — The Feast of Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, was celebrated at St Peter’s Church, Padungan on the evening of Sunday, 2 June 2024.

The Mass was presided by Archbishop Simon Poh, with concelebration by Fr Vincent Chin, the rector, and Fr Christopher Laden, the assistant priest of the Church.

This feast highlights the Holy Eucharist as the Real Presence of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, symbolised by the bread and wine offered during Mass.

Following the Mass, the Blessed Sacrament was exposed, and a solemn procession took place. The initial plan of a public Eucharistic procession within the vicinity of the Church compound was moved indoors due to rain. Archbishop Simon Poh, accompanied by Fr Vincent Chin and Fr Christopher Laden, processed around the Church with 12 flower girls and altar servers.

During this procession, the congregation knelt in adoration to honour the Holy Eucharist. The Church aisle was adorned with beautiful flowers leading up to the altar, enhancing the reverence and splendour of the feast.
