KUCHING — The EMPOWERED Ministry organised a Youth Gathering on Friday, 16 February with the theme “I am a Child of God”. Emmanuel, the session animator adapted the Bible story of Mephibosheth from 2 Samuel; who was constantly labelled as crippled. Before going into the story deeper, Emmanuel shared a family tree of Mephibosheth.
Emmanuel connected Mephibosheth’s story to our own lives, where we often feel labelled or judged. But Emmanuel pointed out that, like King David who called Mephibosheth “son,” God sees us as His children, without focusing on our problems.
He then shared that it will be our new identity. Emmanuel highlighted verses such as Mark 5:36 and Luke 5:10, which affirm that God is reassuring us to not be afraid. The session animator also reminded everyone that we are always welcome as God’s children.
The session wrapped up with a video of the song “No Longer Slaves,” emphasising that we don’t need to be afraid because we are loved by God.
