SERIAN — The Special Function Committee of St Theresa’s Parish Pastoral Council will be organising a fundraising dinner at 6.30 pm on 6 April 2024 at SJK Chung Hua Serian Hall.

The dinner, to be attended by over 1,000 participants, is to raise funds for the St Theresa’s Pastoral Centre Building Fund. The committee has urged participants to share transport to the venue to avoid insufficient parking lots.

Kuching Archbishop Simon Poh will grace the event as the Guest of Honour, joined by Rector Fr Lazarus Swinie (also Spiritual Director of the committee), Advisors YB John Anak Ilus and Dennis Sung, invited VIPs, parishioners and supporters. They have been informed to prepare to participate in the donation events during the dinner.

The programme for the night shall include speeches, presentation of donations, “Golden Voice”, “Button Holes”, entertainment with singing and dances, and more.

These were disclosed by Dennis Anak Erwin Manung, Chairman of the Special Function Committee.

He further disclosed that currently, the funds available are still far from the estimated cost. The committee continuously invites generous well-wishers to contribute either by handing over their contributions to the parish office at the Serian main Church or by banking to Hong Leong Bank, Serian with the bank account number 03300013158 for ST. THERESA’S PASTORAL CENTRE FUND.

About the Parish Pastoral Centre

The Parish Pastoral Centre Fund was launched after the open-air Holy Mass held at the Mini Sports Complex here on 1 October, 2000, celebrated by then Archbishop Datuk Peter Chung together with former Rector Fr Vincent Chin and other priests as concelebrants.

The project of the Parish Pastoral Centre received very good response from the parishioners since then. However, the project was unfortunately being delayed due to the delay of handing over of the primary school site to the Catholic Mission by the Education Department. Until the site of SRB St Teresa was eventually officially handed over to the mission on 30 September 2021.

The building plan and relevant documents of the 4-storey project had been submitted earlier to the relevant government departments for approval. The project will only commence with the approval from the relevant authorities before calling for tender from experienced contractors to complete the job.
