KUCHING — The Sunday School Teachers of Blessed Sacrament Church recently organized a Wonderfully Made session in collaboration with a team of facilitators from the Kuching Archdiocesan Youth Commission (KAYC) at their parish.

It focused on educating our youths about the Catholic teachings on sexuality to discover God’s plan for love and life.

52 youths aged between 14 – 16 years old took part in the 1 day programme on 9 March 2019, which featured teachings based on Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body presented in a way that speaks to the hearts and minds of young people.

Some topics covered during the programme include Sex & Marriage is Sacred, Our Bodies are Sacred Sacraments as well as discussions about sexuality aimed at educating and raising the awareness of our young people, so that they may make informed decisions for themselves.

Participants also engaged in various group activities and discussions which touched on topics such as ‘Masturbation is natural and normal’ and ‘Pornography is art’ – topics which sought to encourage each participant to discuss their views with one another with the guidance of the facilitators, with the hopes of bringing about greater awareness about sexuality.

Each group then shared their thoughts about each topic to the larger group, followed by a Question & Answer session to address any questions the participants had.

The programme ended with an appreciation for the facilitators, a closing address and prayer from Fr Felix Au, the Advisor, Commission for Youth who is also Rector of Blessed Sacrament Church, and a group photo.
