KOTA PADAWAN — 4 November 2023 was a historical day for 28 students from St Ann’s Church, as they had successfully completed Level 10 of the Malaysian Catechetical Series.

A simple yet memorable graduation ceremony with the theme, “Be the Salt and Light of the Earth”, was held as an appreciation for the students who had undergone the 10-year course.

It took place at St Anthony’s Hall and was a special occasion as it was held for the first time at St Ann. The main organiser was the catechesis teachers’ group which was led by Mariana Matthew as the co-ordinator.

Friar David Au OFM, assistant parish priest of St Ann, in his speech reminded all the graduates to keep on enriching their faith as they will most likely be on their own when furthering their studies and in their career life. They were advised to always seek for God’s guidance and serve God by any possible means.

The two-hour event included the presentation of certificates to all the graduates which was presented by Friar David, accompanied by the Advisor of the catechesis teachers’ group, Anna Dreba and witnessed by the parents, Chairperson of the Ministry of Faith Formation, John Dawi and catechists of St Ann.

Certificates were also presented to some outstanding graduates in several categories. Certificate of Top Attendance was presented to Ferexious Delrance Allanceson anak Kasar, Certificate of the Most Active Member in Church Service was presented to Hayden Smith Aldrine and the Top Scorer and Excellent Student Certificates were presented to Claudia Samson.

The spectacular event then continued with a slide presentation, sing-along session and photography session. Besides leading the opening prayer, Friar David led the group in saying grace before meal and gave the final blessing to all who were present, before a humble pot blessing meal.
