KUCHING — The EMPOWERED Ministry organised a Youth Gathering on Friday, 11 August with the theme Faithful Flight: Following Jesus, Our Top Gun. Emmanuel, the session animator adapted the theme of the rebooted film Top Gun to share a message on God’s faithfulness.
Based on the Gospel passage in Matthew 14:22-33 of the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time where the Apostle Peter was called by Jesus to step out of the boat and walk on the stormy sea, the session animator conveyed that all of us are called to take a step of faith in the storms and difficulties of our lives. Emmanuel reminded us that as long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, Peter was able to walk on water, but started sinking when he was distracted. Similarly, we are challenged to remain faithful to Jesus amidst the challenges and struggles we face in our lives.
