United in Prayer for A Better Tomorrow in Sarawak

The lighting of one candle by church representatives to signify unity in spirit and prayer for Sarawak.

SIBU — On this auspicious occasion to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Sarawak on 22 July 2023, the future generation of Sarawak Church Youth united together in Prayer.

A thumb’s up to Prayer United Sarawak of Central Zone (PUSCZ) for this initiative to unite all in prayer for a better tomorrow for Sarawak.

Though from various church denominations and independent churches, they journeyed under one banner from four corners of central Rejang Basin, represented by four anchor churches—Xin Fu Yuan Methodist Church, Sacred Heart Cathedral, BEM Faith and 611 Living Water.

Their journey began at 7.00 pm, all congregating at the Hoover Methodist Church. The event started with the Sarawak State Anthem.

Throughout the night, there were prayers, praises and worship as well as prophetic dances. The highlight of the event was the lighting of one candle by all the representatives/pastors/ priests of churches to signify one in spirit, to pray for Sarawak.

May this Light of Unity, Harmony and Peace shine throughout the blessed land of Malaysia.

The theme of the event was ‘banner, beloved and belonging’ taken from Psalm 60 in conjunction with the Diamond Jubilee 60th Year of Sarawak Independence.

More than 500 participants from different churches attended the gathering.

Chairman of Prayer United Sarawak Central Zone Reverend Jonathan Wong presented the cheque to representatives of Sibu Kidney Foundation, together with PUSCZ committee.

During the event, the organisers collected RM3,600 which was disbursed to amongst others, NGOs namely Sibu Community Services Association, Destiny for Children Association, and Sibu Kidney Foundation.
