KUCHING — The EMPOWERED Ministry organised a Youth Gathering on the topic of Thanksgiving on Friday, 9 June. The gathering was in conjunction with the Gawai Festival which celebrates bountiful harvests of the past year and in anticipating the coming year’s work to harvest. The evening began with a unique ice-breaker activity where everyone danced the poco-poco (a form of line dancing) to a contemporary Dayak song.

After a praise session led by the Music Team, Emmanuel, the speaker, shared a message on how giving thanks to God is an integral part of our faith as Catholics. This is based on the highest form of thanksgiving which is the Eucharistic Celebration that Catholics celebrate where Eucharist is the English translation of Eucharistia which is the Ecclesiastical Latin term that means thanksgiving. In concluding the evening, some Gawai snacks were shared among the youths who were in attendance.
