KIULU — The San Damiano Girls Hostel in Kiulu near here received a cash donation of Brunei Dollars $1,753 (about RM6,002) from St John Parish, Kuala Belait of the Apostolic Vicariate of Brunei recently.
The Parish Priest of St John, Rev Fr Paul Shie took the initiative to conduct a fund-raising among its parishioners upon learning the plight of the 62 hostel girls who lack daily rations from time to time.
The amount was handed over to the Sister-In-Charge of the Hostel, Sr Jane Sandalun by local representative, Ms Jessie Ting, who happens to be a niece of Fr Paul.
Sr Jane thanked Fr Paul and Jessie for their efforts and expressed the hope that more NGOs would help the girls in future.
Among the local leaders who show their concern for the hostel from time to time is Tuaran Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau.
