KUCHING — Blessed Sacrament Church celebrates the Worldwide Children’s Eucharistic Holy Hour annually. This event usually takes place around the first week of October, to commemorate Blessed Mother Mary’s apparition at Fatima to three young children – Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta, and her request for prayers.

This year’s Holy Hour, organised by the Faith Formation Committee (BFFC) was held on 5 October, with the theme ‘Peace: Gather the children to pray for their families, country and the world’.

There was a procession after the welcoming speech and lighting of the Unity candle at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, to honour Mother Mary. Pretty flower girls escorted Mother Mary’s statue around the Church compound into the Church, as the community sang praises to her along the way.

After announcing the intentions of the Worldwide Children’s Eucharistic Holy Hour, the Petition Box containing the petitions as an offering from the Sunday School students / children was placed at the foot of the altar.

Mother Mary’s crowning capped the highlight of the procession, followed by adoration and benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Five Sunday School students led the recitation of the World Mission Rosary. Each Sorrowful mystery represented a continent.

The evening ended with songs of praise to Mother Mary, and the students presented her five different coloured flowers to represent the different continents. Europe was represented by a white flower; Americas by a red flower; Asia by a yellow flower; Oceania by a blue flower, and Africa by a green flower.

Fr Felix, in his closing remarks, asked the congregation to pray for the renewal of families.
